Searching the Dickens Court Docket
Do not assume Dickens runs a city court. The OCA municipal listing shows none for the city. Instead, read the paperwork and find the court named on it. A case in the 110th Judicial District Court or the constitutional County Court runs through the combined District & County Clerk. A Justice of the Peace matter belongs to the JP office.
The county's LGS link and re:SearchTX can offer search leads. But neither promises a complete Dickens docket. LGS may open an index, a preview, or a purchased image. That applies to record types the elected office selects. re:SearchTX tracks only the courts that file electronically with it.
- Identify the court, case type, party, filing range, and case number.
- Try the county-directed LGS index and participating re:SearchTX records.
- Call the combined clerk or JP when the online search fails or the court date matters.
- Ask for a docket or file index before ordering many documents.
- Confirm whether the requested copy must be plain, certified, or inspected in person.
Dickens Court Docket Custodians
Danay Carnes serves as Dickens County District & County Clerk. The office merges duties. State directories often split those into separate District Clerk and County Clerk rows. When you ask about a district docket, name the 110th Judicial District Court. For a constitutional County Court file, state the county court plus the case category.
| Dickens record | First contact | Channel |
|---|---|---|
| District or County Court | Combined clerk | 508 Crow Street; (806) 623-5531 |
| County Court setting | County Court coordinator | (806) 623-5532 |
| Justice case or citation | Stella Carter, JP | P.O. Box 70; (806) 623-5233 |
| County administrative record | County Judge PIA route | P.O. Box 179; dcjudge@co.dickens.tx.us |
One office cannot confirm a docket it does not keep. Write down exactly which custodian you searched before treating a no-match as final.
Dickens Municipal Court Basics
The OCA directory carries no Dickens municipal court entry. The city offers no citation portal either. There is no municipal calendar, judge listing, payment page, or clerk contact. Treat this as a correction: there is no reason to chase a Dickens Municipal Court.
A paper that just lists Dickens as a place may still belong to a county court. That could be the JP, the constitutional County Court, or the 110th Judicial District Court. Read the court caption and the issuing court. If the paper names a municipal court in some other city, call that city's court.
No city-court assumption: Start with the court printed on the citation or notice. Do not invent a Dickens municipal portal or municipal clerk.
Here is the main difference between Dickens and Spur. Spur has a municipal court of its own, while Dickens mainly serves as the county-seat access point for county and justice offices.
Dickens County Seat Records
Dickens is an incorporated town and the county seat, home to 219 residents per the official 2020 Census profile. That status explains why so many court contacts cluster here. Still, no single counter holds every case.
The courthouse sits at 201 US-82, Dickens, Texas 79229. The combined clerk's physical address is 508 Crow Street, Dickens, Texas 79229, with mail sent to P.O. Box 120. County administrative or PIA mail goes to P.O. Box 179. Keep those three addresses straight.
Call the clerk at (806) 623-5531 or fax (806) 623-5240. The county website lists general hours of Monday through Thursday, 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., and Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Confirm the hours and the right building before you drive out.
Court Dates and Settings in Dickens
Dickens County posts no live daily calendar for the district, County Court, or JP. A search result may show a hearing, but it may not catch a reset or cancellation. Call the coordinator or clerk before you appear.
| Court | The 110th District Court, constitutional County Court, or JP that controls the setting. |
|---|---|
| Case number | The identifier exactly as the notice or clerk supplies it. |
| Date and time | The current setting, confirmed after any reset. |
| Setting type | Arraignment, docket call, motion, trial, status, probate, or another court label. |
| Location | The Dickens site, Floydada district location, or remote instruction authorized by the court. |
| Status | Scheduled, reset, cancelled, completed, or otherwise entered. |
County Court settings: (806) 623-5532. JP settings: (806) 623-5233. District settings may need the 110th coordinator at (806) 983-3384.
Dickens Court Docket in Floydada
The 110th Judicial District spans Briscoe, Dickens, Floyd, and Motley Counties. Its official listed base is 105 S Main Street, Room 204, Floydada, Texas 79235. Dickens County district records stay with the Dickens clerk. But Floydada may be where a hearing gets coordinated or held.
When asking for a setting, pair the court name with the county. A multi-county district makes "the district docket" far too broad. Say it is a Dickens County case in the 110th Judicial District Court. Then give the case number and date range.
A trip to the Dickens courthouse and a hearing site in Floydada serve different purposes. Confirm the record custodian and the appearance place before you travel.
Traffic Tickets in Dickens
There is no Dickens municipal court to take city tickets. So do not send a search to a clerk that does not exist. The Justice of the Peace page names Stella Carter and links TrafficPayment. Reach the JP at (806) 623-5233, fax (806) 623-5319, or mail at P.O. Box 70, Dickens, Texas 79229.
TrafficPayment is a citation and payment lead, not a full Dickens docket. The county page does not show Dickens-specific search fields. Nor does it show coverage dates or docket history from the vendor. If nothing turns up, call the JP. Ask whether the citation has been filed and what public case copy exists.
The citation's issuing court still controls the case. A Spur Municipal Court citation belongs with Spur, not the Dickens JP. The Dickens County traffic ticket page lays out both routes.
Dickens Historic Courthouse Docket
Dickens County formed in 1876. It organized in 1903, and the town of dickens took the county seat role. The working courthouse is an 1893 Romanesque Revival building. That is according to the Texas Historical Commission. Local history like this sets the scene. It does not tell you where a modern docket lives. So the clerk remains the place to ask. The Portal to Texas History courthouse photograph shows the building itself.

A picture of the courthouse says little about today's files. For current records, start with the correct office, which is the combined clerk at 508 Crow Street. The Texas Historical Commission marker recounts the county-seat history.

History explains the county seat; the clerk, the courts, and the JP handle docket access today.
Where Dickens Cases Go
Dickens County cases do not follow the usual city-page flow, because the county runs on its justice and county courts rather than a municipal one. A justice citation stays with the JP unless legal process moves it. County Court and district cases begin with the combined clerk, who fills both roles. The 110th district covers several counties, so ask where your hearing is actually set.
Docket flow: Dickens justice or county office › Dickens County clerk or court › 110th Judicial District Court, when that court has jurisdiction
Treat this as a routing map. Case type and court jurisdiction control where anything goes. Not every matter passes through every tier. For the county-wide sequence, see the Dickens County court docket overview. Afton, Elton, Gilpin, and McAdoo are communities, not separate city courts. A filing tied to one of them still belongs to whichever court issued it.
Dickens Online Docket Limits
The county's Online Records Search link leads to LGS Online Solutions. Its FAQ promises free index searches, guest previews, and purchased images for registered users, and it notes that each official decides which record types go online. So a chronological Dickens court docket, or every old file, may simply not be there. re:SearchTX covers electronic cases, filings, text, and hearings across participating Texas courts. OCA cautions that it does not hold all trial-court records and points the public back to local clerks. eFileTexas exists for filing, not for guaranteed public access. When online routes come up empty, call, fax, mail, or visit the combined clerk. Ask whether a public terminal, a paper docket book, a staff-assisted index, or an offsite record needs checking. The clerk can tell you directly how older files are handled.
Dickens Court Record Access Rules
In Texas, case records come from the clerk or the court that holds them. The county's Public Information Act form fits county-held administrative information when the county directs that route. It does not replace a case-record request to the combined clerk or the JP.
Classify the Dickens record first.
The Texas Judicial Branch policy distinguishes court case records from Rule 12 judicial records and directs case requests to the maintaining custodian.
The county public-information page supplies the administrative PIA form and county route.
Index access is not the same as full disclosure. Sealed, juvenile, mental-health, adoption, protective-order, family, expunction, or redacted material may be limited by law. Ask the clerk whether a public index or a redacted copy is available.
Dickens Docket Request Checklist
A clear Dickens request names the court and the exact artifact you need. The docket is a timeline of entries. The file holds the pleadings, orders, exhibits, and other documents. A certified copy is a clerk-attested reproduction. A statistical activity report, by contrast, names no case at all.
- Court and Dickens County venue
- Case number and exact party name
- Case type and filing date range
- Docket, index, order, judgment, or named document
- Plain, electronic, certified, or in-person copy choice
- Quote request for search, copy, certification, mail, or retrieval fees
Write down the search date, the office contacted, the terms used, and the clerk's response and quote. If nothing turns up, ask which database or paper index was checked. That trail separates a genuine Dickens docket search from a blank vendor screen.
